Lori Leitzinger is in her first season with the Virginia Tech swimming and diving program as an assistant coach. She joins the H2Okies as an assistant at St. Francis University.
During her time in Loretto, Pa., Leitzinger helped the program win its first NEC Championship in 2009. She also earned her master's degree in education and leadership at St. Francis.
Outside of the collegiate level, Leitzinger spent two years with the YMCA of greater Richmond as the program's associate director.
A Clarion University standout, Leitzinger was a 16-time All-American who finished sixth in the 200 backstroke at the NCAA Division II Championships her senior campaign. She holds the Clarion record in the 100 and 200 backstroke events and graduated with a degree in marketing in 2008.
The State College, Pa., native resides in Christiansburg and is the Virginia State Masters record-holder in the 200 backstroke. Leitzinger recently completed the Pittsburgh marathon and currently competes in triathlons for the TriAdventure team.
