Tiffany McVay Assistant Coach Softball
Second Year

photo Tiffany McVay is in her second season with the Virginia Tech softball program, serving as the Hokies' pitching coach. The effects she's had on the Hokie program are clearly evident as her staff had the third-lowest ERA in the country at 1.28 while Angela Tincher earned first-team All-America honors with a nation-low 0.56 ERA and 38 wins.

McVay played collegiately at East Tennessee State University, where she was a member of the Bucs' inaugural team. An all-conference player in 2003, she still holds the school's single-season records for lowest ERA, wins, saves, complete games and shutouts. She also holds the career records for innings pitched, strikeouts, shutouts and wins. She was equally talented at the plate, hitting 16 home runs and driving in 68 runs in her career.

She was a three-time MVP of the ETSU squad, earning all-tournament honors at the 2003 SoCon Tournament. McVay, who played from 2001-2004, spent her two years prior to Tech as a professional pitching coach in Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

McVay graduated from East Tennessee State in 2004 with a B.S., in dietetics and food management. She married Derek McVay, who is enrolled in the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM), in 2002. The couple are expecting their first child in December of 2007.
