Responsibilities:  Wells oversees all marketing and promotional aspects for Tech’s 21 varsity sports, as well as increasing game attendance, awareness and visibility of the athletics department. He serves as the sport administrator for the spirit squads as well as a liaison with IMG. He also directly coordinates all marketing for Football.

Joined VT Athletics Staff:  September of 2003.

At Virginia Tech: Wells started with Tech as the coordinator of marketing and was eventually promoted to assistant director of athletics for sports marketing and promotions in 2007.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Wells stayed in Lynchburg following graduation to complete an internship with the Lynchburg Hillcats Baseball Club. His main responsibilities were on-field promotions and stadium operations. 

Following his internship, Wells was hired by the Capital City Bombers Baseball Club in Columbia, S.C., as a group sales account executive, soliciting various companies and civic groups to purchase tickets to Bombers baseball games. 

In January of 2000, he accepted a position with the Richmond Braves Baseball Club as the assistant group sales manager. Similar to his job responsibilities with the Bombers, he was in charge of trying to increase attendance at Braves games by soliciting large groups to purchase tickets at a discounted rate, and he also was involved with sponsorship sales. After one season as the assistant group sales manager, he became the group sales manager for a year. 

Wells was promoted to marketing and promotions manager for the Braves in November of 2001. He was in charge of all sponsorship sales, game promotions and game day entertainment for two years.

Education: Lynchburg College, 1999 (B.A. in sport management).

Personal: A native of Martinsville, Va., Wells and his wife, Kellie, live in Christiansburg, Va., and have a son, Eli, and a daughter, Caitlin.
