A history of excellence

The H2Okies have a strong swimming and diving tradition dating back to the program's inaugural season in 1933. Tech has over 500 wins in the history of the program, has recorded 65 winning seasons and captured five conference championships under 13 head coaches, including Tech's current and all-time winningest coach, Ned Skinner. The H2Okies have produced 11 All-Americans and two Olympians over the years and has recorded 15 NCAA appearances. This past year, both programs broke the top 20 for the first time ever by placing 18th at the championships and, at the 2012 ACC Championships, the Virginia Tech men took the podium by placing second for the first time in program history.

H2Okie highlights

The H2Okies have had several student-athletes represent Virginia Tech on many podiums. Olympians include Kaan Tayla of Turkey (2008) and Katarina Filova of Slovakia (2012). Last season was very successful across the board as the Hokies added five more All-Americans to the list including four 2012 ACC Champions. Kaylea Arnett became the first Virginia Tech women's diving champion when she won the 1-meter gold medal as a freshman and head coach Ned Skinner garnered his third career conference head coach of the year award.

Arnett captures national title

Junior Kaylea Arnett of the Virginia Tech diving team made history this past summer, pairing with Deirdre Freeman to capture the national title in the women's synchronized 3-meter event at the AT&T National Diving Championships. Arnett already holds the school records in the 1-meter and 3-meter events, and led the H2Okies with 13 points at last year's NCAA Championships.
