Welcome H₂Okie followers,

As announced in 2005, construction began in Christiansburg for a brand new aquatic center that both the town and Virginia Tech swimming and diving team will make usage of to elevate the training and competition within the region.

Posted below are photos showing the progress made on the facility, which is to be completed during the fall/winter of 2009. We will be periodically adding more photos as the opening date nears.

As a reminder, here are a few brief bullet points on what people will see in this fabulous center.

• A 50-meter competition pool to promote and support competitive swimming at all age levels within the region.
• A family/leisure pool with a two-story slide, water walking lanes, zero depth entrance, water jets and other recreational features
• A therapy pool for physical therapy, injuries, arthritic persons and rehabilitation
• Separate Virginia Tech Swimming and Diving team entrance, parking area and locker rooms along with a team room.
• Spectator seating for competitive swimming and diving events, including second-level seating that will allow the facility to be capable of hosting Atlantic Coast Conference championships and other national-caliber meets
• Full diving amenities, including 5-, 7.5- and 10-meter platforms being added
