Two Hokies Garner All-District Honors
Faust and Savage earn second-team recognition
May 27, 2005

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech redshirt junior Mike Faust and junior Neil Savage were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Men's At-Large Team earlier in the week, both garnering second-team honors.

Faust, a wrestler, finished the 2005 season with a 30-7 overall record, including a Tech school-record tying 19-1 dual meet record. He also finished third on the team with 72 points scored in dual matches. Faust was the 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference heavyweight champion and was a first-time NCAA Tournament qualifier.

He helped guide the Hokies to an undefeated regular season in the ACC (5-0) and a 16-4 overall mark.

Savage, a swimmer who competes primarily in the freestyle and IM events, finished 18th at the ACC Championships in the 400 IM and 500 free. He also finished 19th in the 1,650 free. He won the 1,000 free against West Virginia and VMI during the 2004-05 season, while also finishing ninth at the Nike Cup in the 1,650 free.

Savage led Tech to a 6-5 dual meet record and a fifth-place finish during its inaugural ACC season.

Faust and Savage are two of 10 ACC recipients on the first or second team.
