BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's swimming and diving team has been named Academic All-America by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.
The academic squad, which includes 76 Division I women's teams, recognizes teams that achieved an overall team grade point average over 2.80 during the fall semester. The Hokie women had a fall GPA of 3.25.
"We are proud of our women's performances in the classroom," Tech head coach Ned Skinner said. "They set the goal themselves and it is a pleasure to work with such dedicated student-athletes."
Tech completed its season with a 36th-place finish at the NCAA Championships on March 18. Sophomore Jessica Botzum (Raleigh, N.C.) earned Honorable Mention All-American Honors with a ninth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke.
