BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Jessica Botzum finished the 100-yard breaststroke in eighth-place for the second outright All-American title of her career, Friday. The junior from Raleigh, N.C., is one of two Hokies representing Tech at the 2007 Swimming and Diving NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. The event concludes tomorrow.

Botzum notched the eighth-place spot after swimming the four-lap event in a time of 1:01.30. The finish earned 11 points, giving the Hokies 18 points after day two.

Botzum earned her first All-American honor in the 200-yard breaststroke as a freshman. As a sophomore, she earned an honorable mention All-American nod in the same event. Tomorrow, Botzum will return to the University Aquatic Center to compete in the NCAA's 200-yard breaststroke for the third year in a row. Teammate Sara Smith will join her, representing the Hokies in the 100-yard freestyle.

The third and final day of the championships begins tomorrow at 11 a.m., CT, for preliminary competition. The evening session starts at 7 p.m., CT.
