EVANSTON, Ill. – The Virginia Tech women’s swimming and diving team has been recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as one of 341 teams named to the Scholar-Athlete All-American team list.

The list recognizes those programs that achieve a grade point average of 3.00 or higher in the fall semester. The Lady H₂Okies finished the fall semester with a team GPA of 3.12. The 341 teams, representing 241 colleges and universities, is the largest number of award recipients since the CSCAA raised the criteria for selection in 2008.

The CSCAA was founded in 1922 and represents the oldest organization of college coaches in America. CollegeSwimming.com is the leading website for collegiate swimming and produces polls, community service awards and other programs to strengthen and promote the sport.

The University of Bridgeport’s women’s program led all teams with a 3.65 GPA in the fall semester, while Division III’s Oberlin University topped all men’s teams with a 3.59 GPA.

The Lady H₂Okies will compete in the ACC Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C., Feb. 17-20, followed by the men’s championships Feb. 24-27.
