    Eight H20kies receive CSCAA Scholar All American honors
    Hawkins receives first Scholar All American award

    BALTIMORE, Md. – Eight members of the Virginia Tech swimming and diving teams have earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All American honors for their academic achievements in the spring, as announced Wednesday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America office.

    The CSCAA presents the Scholar All American award to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have qualified for their respective national championship, as well as the Honorable Mention Scholar All American award to college and university swimmers and divers who have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have achieved a "B" time standard in their respective national championship.

    Representing for the men’s squad is Ryan Hawkins, along with five honorable mention honorees: Zach McGinnis, Tom Sheranek, Trey Stewart, Blake Trabuchi-Downey and Nick Tremols. Hawkins, a freshman from Charlotte, N.C. majoring in architecture, while having an outstanding rookie season, shining at ACCs and Zone A Championships and earning a spot at the NCAA Championships.

    Laura Simon and Lauren Ritter represented the H2Okie women on being selected to the honorable mention All-American list. Simon, a sophomore biochemistry major, earned the Skelton Award for Academic Excellence and finished ninth in the 1650 free at the ACC Championships, while Ritter, a senior in psychology, picked up her second career award.
