BLACKSBURG, Va.--Virginia Tech's Katie Ollendick made it three All-America titles in succession when she qualified for the honor in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week.

Earlier this year, she earned All-America honors in indoor track. Last school year, Ollendick was an Academic All-American and is favored to repeat when the 1998 Academic team is named soon.

A senior from Blacksburg, Va., Ollendick qualified for Outdoor All-America status by finishing eighth in the heptathlon in the NCAA meet at Buffalo, N.Y., Thursday.

The Tech star finished the event with 5,358 points. The repeat champion was Brigham Young's Tiffany Lott with 5,982 points.

Ollendick is scheduled to compete in the high jump finals which are scheduled at the NCAA Outdoor meet Saturday.
