Men's Track & Field Adds Three Throwers
Clickett, Moore and Misljenovic sign with Hokies
July 12, 2006

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech Athletics Department, along with the Track & Field program, announced Wednesday the signing of three throwers - Justin Clickett, Kevin Moore and Igor Misljenovic - who will join the program this fall.

Clickett, a junior transfer from the University of Pittsburgh, is a two-time All-American in the shot put with a personal record of 19.05m (62'6"). He owns the Panthers' indoor and outdoor school records and was both a Big East Conference champion and IC4A champion. A business major, he was also selected to the Big East All-Academic Team.

"Justin is already a proven thrower and will continue to excel as a Hokie," Greg Jack, Tech associate head men's track & field coach said. "We will look to Justin to help continue the throwing tradition here at Virginia Tech."

Moore, a sophomore transfer from La Salle University, owns a personal record of 66.44m (218') in the javelin. Moore narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships this past year with an eighth-place finish at the East Regional Championships. The 2006 Atlantic 10 Conference Champion and USA Junior All-American has Tech coaches' excited about his potential.

"Kevin's has a tremendous up side," Jack said. "I expect him to be able to mix it up with the very best in the nation and challenge for the ACC title, while making an impact on the national level."

Misljenovic, a true freshman from Zagreb, Croatia is one of Croatia's top junior athletes. He boasts personal records of 17.28m (56'8") in the shot put and 49.28m (161'8") in the discus. He will represent Croatia at IAAF World Junior Championships this August along with Virginia Tech teammate and countryman, hammer thrower Matej Muza.

"Igor has all the tools to be very successful," Jack explained. "At 6-8 and 280 pounds, he will mature into a fine thrower who will make an immediate impact for us at the conference level and eventually at the NCAA level."
