RALEIGH, N.C. - The Hokies took first place in the 4x800-meter relay to highlight a busy day for the Virginia Tech track & field program, with athletes competing in the adidas Raleigh Relays and the Liberty Asics Collegiate Invitational in Lynchburg, Va.

The No. 27 Hokie men's team had a pair of entries in the 4x800-meter relay at the adidas Raleigh Relays in the NC State Track Facility. Tech's effort was led by the quartet of Nick McLaughlin, James Scheiner, Jeff Miller, and Eddie Judge, with a time of 7:40.09 for first place in the event.

Rider Clauss took 11th place in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 3:55.49. Devin Cornwall followed in 15th place with a time of 3:56.03.

Kyle Guglielmo won the 1,500-meter race at the Liberty Asics Collegiate Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., with a time of 4:02.09. Guglielmo also took third in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:57.83.

The Hokies took two spots in the top 10 of the 5,000-meter run, led by Matt Saunders' runner-up finish in a time of 15:33.50. Alex Nissen finished sixth in a time of 16:15.94.

A trio of freshmen represented the No. 3 Tech women's team at Liberty. Megan Fuson turned in a third-place finish in the 800-meter dash at the Liberty Asics Collegiate Invitational with a time of 2:23.18. Jackie Merrick finished exactly one second behind Fuson for a fourth-place finish in 2:24.18. Jessica Trapeni registered a 14th-place finish with a time of 2:31.19.

All three also competed in the 1,500-meter run, taking spots three through five. Merrick led the way with a third-place finish in 4:51.00, followed by Fuson in 4:58.59 for fourth place, while Trapeni took fifth place with a time of 5:00.36.

Lindsey King competed in the 5,000-meter run, and turned in a time of 18:16.33.
