Hokies to run at UNC Elite meet
Tech competes in Chapel Hill on Friday

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech track & field team will enter five different athletes into thee different races Friday at the North Carolina Elite meet on the Irwin Belk Track at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, N.C.
In the USTFCCCA's latest rankings, the Hokies' women team is at No. 6, while the men's team is listed at No. 35.
The freshmen duo of Jeff Miller and Chris Walizer will start the meet off for the Hokies by running in the 800-meter dash at 7:15 p.m. Miller just missed qualifying for the final heat at last month's Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, but settled for ninth place in the preliminaries with a time of 1:52.09. The Lorton, Va., native then took one second off his personal record with a time of 1:51.7 at the Liberty Twilight. Walizer placed 16th in the preliminary heat of the 800-meter dash at the ACC Championships in a time of 1:57.90.
Miller and classmates Eddie Judge and Ryan Witt are scheduled to compete in the 1,500-meter run at 7:45 p.m. Both Judge and Witt turned in season-best performances in the preliminary race at the ACC Championships, with Judge finishing 13th in 3:50.84 and Witt registering a time of 3:52.18 for 17th.
Tech sophomore Kelly Clark will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, which is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Clark placed 11th in the event at the conference meet with a personal-record time of 11:25.96.
