Hokies tune up at the Georgia Tech Invite
Tech to compete in last meet before postseason competition

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech track & field team will perform for the final time before the NCAA regional and national championships on Friday at Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. The women's team has been ranked sixth in the nation by the USTFCCCA for the last two weeks, while the men's team is ranked 35th.
A pair of Tech's women's relay teams will compete this weekend. The 4x100-meter relay will begin at 2 p.m. tomorrow, followed by the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday at 6:50 p.m.
Ebenezer Amegashie is entered in the 110-meter hurdle event. The preliminary races are scheduled for tomorrow at 6 p.m., while the final is to be ran Saturday at 3:50 p.m. Amegashie will also run the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday, following the 5:10 p.m. women's race.
Kristi Castlin, Queen Harrison and Sherlenia Green are entered in the 100-meter hurdle race, with preliminary races starting tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., and the final heat on Saturday at 3:40 p.m. Green and Asia Washington are also slated to run the 400-meter hurdle event on Saturday at 5:10 p.m.
Britni Spruill is set to run in the 100-meter dash prelims tomorrow at 6:55 p.m., with the final heat on Saturday at 5 p.m. Harrison, Spruill and Shakirra Pinnock will also run the 400-meter dash on Saturday at 4 p.m. Nobel Iyebote will compete in section six of the following men's event.
Tasmin Fanning and Jessica Fanning will compete in the 800-meter run on Saturday at 2:35 p.m. Billy Berlin will run in the second section of the men's race. Ryan Witt and Jeff Miller will compete in the following heat, with James Scheiner and Eddie Judge set to run in the event's fourth section.
In the 1,500-meter run, Erin Reddan, Natalie Sherbak, Tasmin Fanning and Jessica Fanning will represent the Hokies tomorrow at 8:10 p.m. They will be followed by Berlin, Witt, Miller, Judge and Devin Cornwall, who will be competing in the men's race.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase will be ran tomorrow at 9 p.m., with sophomore Kelly Clark representing Tech. Rider Clauss is entered as Tech's lone competitor in the ensuing men's race. Reddan and Clark are scheduled to run in the 5,000-meter race tomorrow at 9:30 p.m., while Cornwall is expected to race in the following men's event.
Yavjeniy Olhovsky, Jared Jodon and Joe Davis will vault for Tech tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. The Hokie trio of Elise Birnbaum, Kelly Phillips and Erin Mahony will start things off for the squad on Saturday in the women's pole vault at noon.
School record holder Dorotea Habazin, Kristen Callan and Brittany Pryor will all compete in the hammer throw tomorrow afternoon. Pryor and Erika Schroeder will also be in the discus on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by the shot put at 3:30 p.m.
