DES MOINES, Iowa - Sophomore pole vaulter Yavjeniy Olhovsky tied for second place in the final section of the men's pole vault to lead the Virginia Tech Track & Field team on the third day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday in Drake Stadium. Five other Hokies claimed All-America recognition in four different events.

Tech's men's team sits in 17^th place with a total of 10.33 points through 13 events scored, and the women's team is currently in an 18^th-place tie with a total of eight points through 11 events scored.

Olhovsky earned All-America honors for the second time in his career after clearing 17'2.75" (5.25m) on his first attempt at that height of the day. Olhovsky cleared an identical height in Wednesday's qualifying round to reach the final and also tied for second place in the NCAA East Regional with a height of 17'5" (5.31m) to tie for second place. After clearing the first two heights of the event on his first attempt, Olhovsky could not convert on three tries at 17'6.5" (5.35m). Olhvosky earned the Hokies' first 6.33 points for the Hokie men's team in the meet.

Olhovsky took his first All-America award after finishing fifth at this year's NCAA Indoor National Championships, and was the runner-up at both the ACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

Junior Matej Muza finished fifth in the men's hammer throw for his second All-America honor in his career with a personal-best mark of 229'1" (69.83m). A two-time All-ACC selection, Muza claimed four more points for the Tech men's team.

Tasmin Fanning competed in the final of the women's 5,000-meter run and finished sixth with a time of 15:54.38 to accumulate three points in the team standings for the Hokies. Fanning has earned three All-America awards in two other events: 2007 indoor distance medley relay and 2007 cross country.

Kelly Phillips captured sixth place in the final flight of the women's pole vault after clearing a season-best height of 13'5.25" (4.10m) on her first attempt. Phillips earned All-America recognition for the first time in her career and notched three more points for the Hokies in the team standings. Unfortunately, teammate Erin Mahony was not able to clear a height on the day.

Brittany Pryor and Kristen Callan both registered top-10 finishes in the women's hammer throw to claim All-America recognition. En route to her fourth All-America award, Pryor took seventh place in the event with a personal-best distance of 208'1" (63.42m) to earn the first two points in the meet for the Hokie women's team. Callan followed in ninth place for her fourth All-America honor at a distance of 205'10" (62.73m).
