EUGENE, Ore. - Virginia Tech hurdler Kristi Castlin will compete on the final day of the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials after finishing with the 11^th-best time in the quarterfinals of the women's 100-meter hurdles on Saturday afternoon.

The rising junior from Douglasville, Ga., completed the race in 12.93 seconds to finish fifth in her heat. The top four finishers in each heat automatically qualified for the semifinals, and Castlin had the best time of all other competitors to earn an at-large bid.

She ran a time of 13.14 seconds in the preliminaries on Saturday morning. Fellow HokieSherlenia Green (Vernon Hills, Ill.) also competed in the event, but did not advance after recording a time of 13.96 seconds.

In other track action from Friday, rising senior Tasmin Fanning (Charlottesville, Va.) placed ninth in the final of the women's 5,000 meters in 15:41.05, and departed senior Kristen Callan (Monroe, N.Y.) ranked 23^rd in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 192 feet, 3 inches (58.60 meters).

Sunday's 100-meter hurdle semifinal event will be run at 6:35 p.m. EST. Should Castlin advance to the final, that will take place at about 8:40 p.m. EST.
