Washington advances to semis of 400-meter hurdles

EUGENE, Ore. - Rising Senior Asia Washington qualified for the 400-meter hurdles semi-finals in the opening day of the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Thursday.

Washington earned the 13th-fastest time in the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a 57.85. The top 16 finishers of the race advanced to the semi-finals set for 7:50 p.m., on Friday.

Rising senior Kristi Castlin and rising sophomore Keith Ricks will compete in the 100-meter hurdles and the junior section of the men’s 200-meter dash, respectively, while former Hokie Brian Mondschein is set for the men’s pole vault. All three athletes will begin the meet on Saturday.
