EUGENE, Ore. – Rising sophomore Keith Ricks finished second in the junior men’s 200-meter dash to highlight the Virginia Tech track and field squads’ third day at the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday.

Ricks ran the second-fastest time in the prelims of the event early in the day, clocking a 21.24, and came back to finish runner-up in the finals of the 200-meters later in the day. The Suffolk, Va., native ran a 21.18 in the finals. With the finish, Ricks qualifies for Pan-American Junior Championships in Port of Spain, Trinidad on July 31-Aug. 2.

Rising senior Kristi Castlin posted a time of 12.99 in the prelims of the women’s 100-meter hurdles to qualify for the finals of the event. Castlin’s time ranked 10^th-fastest in the field. The Douglasville, Ga., native will compete in the semis of the event at 3 p.m., tomorrow.

Former Hokie Brian Mondschein cleared 18-02.50 as an unattached athlete in the men’s pole vault to place 12^th in the competition.
