TOWSON, Maryland - Virginia Tech men’s track and field athlete Matej Muza has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men’s Track & Cross Country Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Muza claimed All-ACC academic status for the third time in his career. A geography major, the Zagreb, Croatia, native received an ACC postgraduate scholarship and the Thacker Award earlier this season. Muza threw a season-best mark of 65-06 in the weight throw at the VT Challenge during the indoor season and scored points for the Hokies with a sixth-place finish in the event at the ACC Indoor Championships. He finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 215-06 at the ACC Outdoor Championships and was fourth at the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Muza concluded his Tech career with a 11th-place finish in the hammer throw at the NCAA National Finals in Eugene, Oregon.

Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
