VICK'S CAMPAIGN KICKS UP
By Jimmy Robertson
Hokie Huddler

The week before the Syracuse game, Orangemen linebacker Keith Bulluck made the statement that he "knew Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick is not Donovan McNabb."

In the second quarter, Bulluck got a first-hand look at Vick's talent. On a run in the second quarter - right before Tech's fourth touchdown - Vick kept the ball on the option and made a sick move on Bulluck that left him falling on the ground, grasping at air.

Bulluck might want to rethink his views. Vick finished the game with modest numbers. He went 8-for-16 for 135 yards and one touchdown. But his leadership, his penchant to get out of jams with his running ability and his big plays kept numerous drives alive.

Vick's play the past three games has been sensational. He's 26-of-37 for 605 yards and six touchdowns. Oh, and no interceptions.

"He should definitely be in the [Heisman] race," defensive end Corey Moore told the media after the game. "You guys like to write stuff, write that. Start a campaign. I think he's just as good as anybody in the country. He's an exciting player to watch. He's definitely up there with the Peter Warrick's [Florida State wide receiver], who I think is the most exciting player in the nation.

"He's very mature for his age and he's blessed with a lot of natural athletic ability. And he plays against the best defense in the nation every week. That's why he's so good. I don't think there's a better quarterback on our schedule. We haven't faced one yet. He's better than Donovan McNabb."

Needless to say, if he keeps playing like he has, Vick may get a few Heisman votes. But it will be nearly impossible for him to pass the likes of Warrick, Alexander, Purdue quarterback Drew Brees and Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne.
