What Vick Did
vs. West Virginia
Michael Vick broke out of his sophomore slump in big way Thursday night in leading the Hokies to a 48-20 win over West Virginia at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. The Newport News, Va., native saved his best performance of the year for a national audience as the game was televised by ESPN.
Vick was 10 of 18 for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Trailing 14-10 at the half, Vick came out and hit tight end Bob Slowikowski on a deep slant down the middle that turned in to an 82-yard touchdown reception. The play swung the momentum of the game and led to a 41-6 second-half surge.
Vick also finally found his deep touch with receiver André Davis, connecting with him on a 64-yard scoring pass.
The redshirt sophomore also netted 57 yards rushing, including a long run of 29 yards.
Vick and the Hokies (6-0, 4-0 BIG EAST) will take to the road next Saturday, traveling to New York to take on Syracuse. Vick is now 16-1 as a starter for the Hokies.
