Volleyball's Stinson Garners VaSID All-State Honors
Award is Stinson's second post-season accolade

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech women's volleyball player Cheryl Stinson was named to the Virginia Sports Information Director's (VaSID) all-state first-team.
Stinson, a middle blocker from Ottawa, Ontario, was recognized for her record-breaking junior campaign. She led the BIG EAST Conference with 71 blocks and ranked fourth in the league with a .367 hitting percentage. She was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for Oct. 9 due to her record-breaking games against Pittsburgh and West Virginia. Against Pitt, she set two personal records with 22 kills and four service aces. Versus WVU, she registered a triple-double with 11 kills, a personal-best 19 digs, and a Tech record 17 blocks. She also set a school record this season with a .846 hitting percentage (11 kills, 13 attempts, no errors) against Providence. Her 116 blocks this season are good for 10th place in Tech history while her .316 hitting percentage is good for second. She also moved into sixth place in VT history with 306 career blocks.
In addition to this award, Stinson was also named second-team All-BIG EAST.
