Terps down Hokies 3-0
Markowski reaches 5,000 assists

College Park, Md. - With 28 assists, senior setter Melissa Markowski (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) became the first Hokie to reach the 5,000 assist mark, as the Maryland Terrapins defeated Tech 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Tech (11-14, 6-10 ACC) fell with game scores of 30-22, 30-20 and 30-16.

Markowski currently has a school-record 5,023 career assists. She added 10 digs in the match for her team-leading 10th double-double this season.

Senior Erin Brugger (Clifton, Va.) had a team-high 10 kills, while freshman Sarah Muņoz (Encinitas, Calif.) totaled eight.

Sophomore Amanda Cloyd (Muncie, Ind.) amassed 10 digs. Junior Allie Kupec (Columbia, Md.) led Tech with three blocks.

For Maryland (24-1, 15-1 ACC), Jade Brown led the Terps with 15 kills. Stephanie Smith had 10 kills, while Stephanie Doiron totaled 15 digs. Tedi Doucet had 18 assists.

Maryland is ranked No. 25 in the CSTV/AVCA Coaches Poll. The Terps are the only ranked team that the Hokies have played this season.

Tech dropped their past four matches, winning just two of 14 games in that span. The Hokies return to Cassell Coliseum on Friday, Nov. 11 to take on Miami at 7:00 p.m.
