Hokies fall in five to Deacs

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Despite taking a 2-1 lead in the match, the Virginia Tech volleyball team fell to Wake Forest Friday night in ACC action, 3-2. Game scores were 26-30, 30-26, 30-22, 25-30, 13-15.

The Deacons took game one, despite hitting just .095 as a team. The Hokies hit -.079, falling 30-26. In the second game, Tech hit .304 in winning 30-26. In game three, the Hokies won 30-22, out-hitting the Deacs, .154 to -.057.

From there, Wake took control, winning the final games 30-25 and the fifth and deciding game, 15-13.

Jen Albrecht led the way for the Hokies, putting down 18 kills and hitting .275. Katie Esbrook hit .346 for the night, putting down 10 kills. Freshman Taylor Parrish had a double-double, recording 12 kills and 17 digs. Sarah Muņoz also had a double dip, knocking down 12 kills and digging 14 balls. Amanda Cloyd had 32 digs and setter Michelle Lang had 44 assists.

With the loss, the Hokies fall to 10-6 overall, 4-3 in the ACC. Tech next travels to Durham for a Saturday night match against Duke at 7 p.m.
