Senior Amanda Cloyd led four Hokies in double-figure digs, collecting a match-high 17. Sophomore Jill Gergen contributed 13, while freshman Amy Wengrenovich picked up 10. Strong serving from Parrish helped the Hokies open game two with a 7-3 advantage. From there, Florida State couldn't score more than two consecutive points and the Hokies used a five-point run to push ahead 15-8, leading to a 30-24 win. The two squads came out in game three neck-in-neck. In a game featuring 12 tie scores, including a tie game at 24, 25 and 27, Willoughby knocked down her ninth kill of the game to put Tech up 28-27 before Wengrenovich landed an ace to put Tech one point away from the match.
