NASHVILLE -- Senior Amanda McKinzie posted a team-high 11 kills and junior Cara Cunningham tallied five kills a four blocks as the Virginia Tech volleyball team fell to two-time defending Atlantic Sun champions Lipscomb, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Hokies jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first game and after an ace from Owens Lipscomb was forced to call a timeout trailing 7-2. Tech led wire-to-wire until the Bisons took its first lead of the set at 22-21. Their first lead of the game was part of a 6-0 run that gave them the set, 25-21.

Before dropping the final set, back-to-back kills from McKinzie evened the score at 7-7 and the senior later matched the score again 15-15 in the second set. The Hokies would close the gap to one at 22-21 but couldn’t get over the hump as the Bisons took a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
