Day Ten: Rainforest
Wednesday, August 18, 2004

A large crowd gathered at the station to ride the Kuranda scenic railway which takes passengers on a one hour trip up to Kuranda Village.

While the team stayed behind to rest for their final game of the tour, these Tech supporters enjoyed the scenic trip by rail.

Barron Falls provides railway travelers with an upclose view.

The falls plunges several hundred feet into Barron Gorge.

The Barron River flows through the gorge and is the home to freshwater crocodiles, tortoises and a variety of waterbirds.

A beautiful view of the mountains could be seen from Skyrail, a 4.7 mile cableway over the rainforest, which reaches 1788 feet at the hightest point.

The Barron Gorge provides some of the most scenic views on the continent.

The kauri pine is the tallest tree in the rainforest reaching heights over 50 meters high.

The skyrail provided a breathtaking view from the mountaintop overlooking the valley down to the ocean.

Head coach Beth Dunkenberger instructs the Hokies during a break in Wednesday night's big win.
