Hokies Roll Past Pittsburgh With Decisive Victory
Tech scores season high with 86-50 win

The Virginia Tech women's basketball team easily defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers Sunday afternoon, 86-50. Every Hokie scored in the ball game and the 86 points were the most the team has scored this year.
Tech (16-6, 7-4) went on a 19-to-4 run at the 13:33 mark in the first half that gave them a 27-13 lead. Thanks to the hot hand of Tere Williams, the Hokies scored 47 points in the first half, the most they have scored in a half this year. Williams dumped in 16 points in the first half and finished the game with 20 points and four rebounds. William's' 20 points marks the third time this year she has scored 20 or more points.
Tech continued to make shots in the second half. Amy Wetzel finished with 13 points and six rebounds while Sarah Hicks scored eight points and led the team with nine rebounds. The Hokies shot a season high 57.4% from the field while holding the Panthers to 33.3%. Ieva Kublina and Chrystal Starling also played well for the Hokies. Starling finished with 13 points and four boards and Kublina scored 12 points and also pulled down four rebounds.
Pittsburgh (9-14, 3-9) finished the game with two players in double figures. Point guard Monique Toney fouled out with 10 points and one assist and Mandy Wittenmayer also scored 10 points in the contest while collecting six rebounds. Pittsburgh was out-rebounded 43-to-21.
Tech will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to take on the Mountaineers of West Virginia.
