Women's Basketball Wins Over Syracuse 48-46
Hokies go to 5-3 In BIG EAST Play

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The game came down to Jakia Ervin's (Baltimore, MD) last shot which didn't fall, giving Virginia Tech a 48-46 victory against Syracuse on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Manley Field House with a crowd of 648 people.

With 6.8 seconds left to play Virginia Tech (14-5, 5-3) missed a free throw and let the Orangewomen (9-9, 3-5) have the final run down the court trailing by only two. Ervin missed the final layup as the buzzer sounded, sealing the win for the Hokies.

Paula Moore's (Bridgeport, CT) foul-line jumper started Syracuse on a 6-0 run in the second half that brought the Orange within one point of the Hokies with 3:41 on the clock. The Orangewomen stayed within three points for the remainder of the game.

This Saturday, Feb. 3 the Hokies will travel to Providence to take on the Friars at 2:00 p.m.
