Hokies collect Second Tour Victory
Defense dominates AIS

SUMMER HILL, New South Wales - Virginia Tech won picking up its' second win in Australia with a dominating 76-57 victory over the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Wednesday afternoon.
Tech placed five players in double figures led by Kirby Copeland (So., Morrow, Ga.) with 15 points. Dawn Chriss (Jr., Hilcrest Heights, Md.) and Erin Gibson (Sr., Galax, Va.) each had 12 points followed by Carrie Mason (Jr., Seneca, Pa.) and Kerri Gardin (Jr., Morgonton, N.C.) with 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Hokies jumped out to a 43-18 halftime advantage and coasted to victory. Tech held their host to only nine points in each of the first two quarters. Leading 28-18 in the second quarter, the Hokies outscored AIS 15-0 over the final 5:09 of the half to put the game out of reach.
Britney Anderson (So., Blacksburg, Va.) led Tech with ten rebounds followed by Chriss and Gardin with seven boards each. Chriss also handed out a team-high five assists while Mason accumulated four of Tech's 15 steals in the contest.
Tech returns to action Saturday evening with a 7 p.m. contest against SEQ Invitational in Brisbane, Queensland.
