Williams' 15 Points Highlights Maroon-White Scrimmage

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Junior forward Tere Williams scored 15 points to highlight the Virginia Tech Maroon-White basketball scrimmage Sunday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum.

Williams, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., hit 7-of-9 field goals to lead the Maroon team to a 72-48 victory. Williams also added one free throw and grabbed one rebound.

Junior guard Amy Wetzel (Ashland, Pa.) and sophomore guard Chrystal Starling (Syracuse, N.Y.) each scored nine points. Sophomore Sarah Hicks (Roanoke, Va.) added eight points. Senior center Kim Seaver (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was the leading rebounder in the game with seven boards. Seaver scored five points in the contest.

Freshman point guard Emily Lipton (Crofton, Md.) contributed with seven points. Other scorers for Tech included senior Missy Lemons (Huntington, W.Va.) with four points, freshman Christina Strother (Capitol Heights, Md.) with four points, sophomore Mollie Owings (Hyattsville, Md.) with four points, freshman Katrina Williams (Salem, Va.) with three points and sophomore Nicole Jones (Vienna, Va.) with two points.

The Hokies will open the 1999 preseason with an exhibition contest against the Hungarian National Team this Thursday at Cassell Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
