Hokies Drop Close Contest at Virginia
Kublina leads Tech with 18 points

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Virginia Tech women's basketball team dropped a 60-58 decision at arch-rival Virginia Thursday night at University Hall. The loss was the second straight for the Hokies by a combined three points.
Tech (3-2) trailed 34-26 at the half and was down 47-36 with 10:39 remaining before making a furious rally. The Hokies put together a 16-5 run to take a 53-52 lead at the four minute mark. Tech extended the lead to 55-52 but the Cavs scored the next seven points to lead 59-55 with 7.2 seconds left. Sarah Hicks connected on a trey with 1.2 remaining before Talisha Quarles hit one of two free throws to seal the victory for Virginia (4-2).
Ieva Kublina led Tech with 18 points and seven rebounds followed by Hicks with 12 points and Nicole Jones with 11. Quarles led UVa with 17 points and LaTonya Blue added 13.
The Hokies return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 5 in their BIG EAST opener at Pittsburgh.
