Virginia Tech Cruises Past Gardner-Webb
Henrickson notches win No. 100

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech gave Coach Bonnie Henrickson her 100th career victory in impressive fashion Friday night in Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies downed Gardner-Webb 76-39 in the second game of the Lady Luck Classic.
Virginia Tech only led 32-24 at halftime but broke it open in the second half. The Hokies outscored the Lady Bulldogs 44-15 in the second half. From the second half horn until 3:50 remaining in the game, the Hokies went on a 38-6 run.
Crystal Starling (Syracuse, N.Y) led the way for the Hokies with a game-high 15 points. Ieva Kublina (Riga, Lativa) added 12 points followed by Rayna DuBose (Columbia, Md.)
with a career-high 10 points. Sarah Hicks (Roanoke, Va.) added eight points and a career-high seven assists for the Hokies. Maggie Tomporek paced the Lady Bulldogs with eight points.
Virginia Tech improved to 8-2 and advances to face Hampton University in the championship game tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Gardner-Webb drops to 2-9 on the season and will play in the consolation game tomorrow against Elon University at 5 p.m.
