Tech Women's Hoops Downs Radford, 71-45
Christina Strother leads Tech to victory with 16 points

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech used a 15-0 run to open the game in defeating Radford, 71-45, in women's college basketball action Saturday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum.

The Hokies did not allow the Highlanders to score until the 13:48 mark of the first half. After Radford closed the lead to 18-13 with 9:39 remaining, Tech went on a 19-8 run to take a 37-21 lead into intermission.

Christina Strother came off the bench for Tech to score 16 points. Tere Williams added 15 points in the win. Ieva Kublina scored seven points with a team-high seven rebounds and three blocked shots in a reserve roll. Catrice Horton led all scorers with 17 points. She was the only Highlander in double figures for the game.

Tech out rebounded Radford, 38-28 and forced the Highlanders into 24 turnovers. The Hokies allowed Radford just 14 of 49 from the field for 28.6% and just 22.6% in the second half.

The Hokies, now 6-2 on the season, will take the next nine days off for final exams. Tech returns to action on Dec. 18 at Clemson. Radford falls to 4-5 on the year.
