NORFOLK, Va. – Virginia Tech junior guard Monet Tellier earned second team 2013 University Division All-State honors as announced by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID). The teams are based on a vote by the sports information directors from around the state.
Tellier led the Hokies this season averaging 13.2 points per game. She eclipsed the 1,000th career point mark this season, becoming just the eighth player in Tech history to do so during their junior campaign. In addition, Tellier set the Hokies’ ACC single season scoring record and became the all-time scoring leader in ACC games. She ranked ninth in scoring in league games with 14.1 ppg. Tellier posted double-digits in 25 games, including six games with 20 or more points.
Not only was Tellier strong on the offensive side, but she led the team in rebounding nine times and in assists 11 times. She led the team in assists with 3.2 per game and steals, recording 36. On the boards, Tellier was the second leading rebounder on the team with 5.6 per game.
This is Tellier’s first all-state honor during her career at Virginia Tech. Liberty’s Devon Brown and coach Carey Green were named Player and Coach of the Year, respectively. Longwood’s Daeisha Brown was named Rookie of the Year.
