WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Taylor Emery hit 5-of-6 shots in the first quarter, and went on to score 25 points as Tech overwhelmed Monmouth, 84-34 Tuesday night. The win takes Tech to 10-2 on the season, as the Hokies head home for the Holiday season.

Aisha Sheppard provided a spark off the bench scoring 14 points, including 11 in the first half as she knocked down three triples.

The Hokies shot 49.2 percent from the field and made 12 triples for the second time in three games against a struggling Hawks program.

Tech’s defense was stingy again on Tuesday, allowing just 24.1 percent from the field and 11.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Hawks were held to a season-low 34 points and were forced into 20 turnovers.

Regan Magarity turned in another double-double performance, with 10 points and 11 rebounds, tallying her seventh of the season.

Eight Hokies were in the scoring column, led by four players in double figures; Emery’s 25, Sheppard’s 14, Channette Hicks added 11 and Magarity’s 10.

Kendyl Brooks hit three 3-pointers, extending her streak of hitting at least one 3-pointer to 20 straight games. She has hit at least one 3-pointer in 41 of the 45 games in which she has played in her career.

The Hokies return to Carilion Clinic Court on Saturday, Dec. 16 for a 6 p.m. matchup with the High Point Panthers.
