TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Florida State scored the game’s first 16 points and never looked back as the 13th ranked Seminoles defeated the Hokies in front of 4,983 Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center. With the win the Seminoles advanced to 16-2 (4-1) in the league.

The loss drops the Hokies to 13-5, 2-3 ahead of Thursday’s clash with Duke at Cassell Coliseum.

Taylor Emery led the Hokies in scoring once again with 17 points, including all of Tech’s eight first quarter points. The junior guard from Tampa, Fla. made six field goals and grabbed six rebounds in 36 minutes on the floor.

Tech, who shoots .344 from behind the 3-point arc on the season misfired on its first 11 attempts - it wasn’t until the fourth frame, where the Hokies found their rhythm, as Regan Magarity, Aisha Sheppard and Emery each recorded triples in the final frame.

The Seminoles shot 60.3 percent from the field and knocked down eight shots from beyond the arc on the afternoon, using a 48-30 advantage on the glass.

Florida State had seven players register double figures on the afternoon including Shakayla Thomas’ 21 off of the bench.

It was the third conference game that the Seminoles had reached the 100-point plateau.
