The Hokies are set to begin another run in March, following their success in this tournament a season ago. Tech advanced to the Elite Eight of the WNIT in 2017, defeating Rider, Navy and Penn State in the process.

This season, All-ACC performer Taylor Emery (18.3 points per game) has led the Hokies on the offensive end of the floor. In the ACC Tournament, Emery keyed the Hokies’ victory over Syracuse with 28 points, and scored 27 against Louisville in the Quarterfinals.

Navy, who went 25-7, 13-5 lost to American 58-49 in the Patriot League championship game, sending them to the WNIT as an automatic qualifier.

Taylor Durham leads the Midshipman in scoring at 14.7 points per game, while Navy’s hallmark has been defense, holding teams to just 53.9 points per contest.

THE SERIES – This is just the second meeting between the Midshipman and the Hokies, with the first coming last season in this competition. That matchup came in the Second Round of the WNIT with the Hokies winning 75-64 behind a double-double from Sidney Cook (15 points, 12 rebounds.) Sami Hill added 16 points and Vanessa Panousis scored 11 on her last appearance in Cassell.
