BLACKSBURG – Rachel Camp had a complete performance, scoring 20 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the field and the rest of the Hokies followed suit as Tech defeated Fordham 81-50 Thursday night on Carilion Clinic Court.

The win sends the Hokies (21-13) into the Elite Eight of the WNIT for the second straight season.

“I thought that we played well from start to finish,” head coach Kenny Brooks said. “Fordham is a good team with 24 wins in a very good league. I thought Rachel Camp was unbelievable tonight. I thought she was tremendous, not only by her numbers but her leadership.”

With time winding down before the half she took the ball from underneath Tech’s basket advance past the half court stripe and launched a last-second 3-pointer which found the net giving Tech a 21-point advantage heading into the locker room.

In the second half, the Hokies didn’t let up, shooting 50 percent as a team

“I like the way the kids are coming together, they’re playing well together, they’re playing for each other and I definitely I think that these are the moments that are going to propel us into next year and hopefully we are able to keep making strides,” Brooks commented.

Taylor Emery scored 15 points, while freshman Aisha Sheppard added 13 and Alexis Jean tallied 12.

Tech owned a 43-25 advantage on the glass and capitalized on 10 Ram turnovers into 17 points on the other end.

G’mrice Davis led Fordham with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Stat of the night: Regan Magarity grabbed nine rebounds, taking her season tally to 321 resetting the new program record. She posted 316 during the 2017-18 season.

Next Up: The Hokies will face the Alabama Crimson Tide (20-13) out of the SEC in the Elite Eight of the WNIT on Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m.

The Tide defeated Georgia Tech 61-59 in Tuscaloosa Thursday evening.
