The Virginia Tech men's soccer team kicks off the 2012 season this weekend hosting the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational. Play begins Friday at 5 p.m., with a matchup between James Madison and Richmond, before the Hokies take on SIU-Edwardsville at 7:30 p.m. Tech closes out the tournament Sunday at 2:30 p.m., against Richmond.

The Hokies return to Lane Stadium/Worsham Field on Wednesday, Aug. 22, for their final open scrimmage of the preseason. The team will come out at 4 p.m., with play beginning around 4:30 p.m. Fans must enter on the West side of the stadium and be seated in those stands.

The Hokies will open their season this weekend at the Tiger Volleyball Invitational in Columbia, Mo., where Tech will face both Nicholls State and the host team Missouri on Friday, before squaring off against Michigan on Saturday.

Coming off two opening-weekend wins at home, the Hokies will fly out to Lincoln, Neb., for the Husker Classic this weekend. The Hokies will face Nebraska Friday at 6 p.m., and then take on Iowa State at 10:30 a.m., Sunday. Seniors Kelly Conheeney and Kelsey Mitchell entered Tech?s top-10 all-time career games started list this past weekend, as they have each started all 70 games of their careers.
