Media day, fan day and a scrimmage make for a fun-filled Saturday

Lane Stadium was the place to be on Saturday as it welcomed approximately 7,000 fans for football’s second annual Fan Appreciation Day a couple hours before the Hokies held their first scrimmage of preseason. At Fan Appreciation Day, the players and coaches signed autographs for more than an hour, providing highlights for a fan base that can’t wait for the 2015 season to kick off. Fan Appreciation Day was also held in conjunction with Media Day, as the players and coaches gathered that morning at the new indoor practice facility and answered questions from media members about the upcoming season and the season opener against Ohio State on Labor Day night. Purchasing a club seating package at Lane Stadium is the only remaining way to guarantee admission for the season opener on Sept. 7 and the rest of the Virginia Tech home schedule. Details on student season ticket sales will be made available later this week once they are finalized. Please contact the Tech Ticket Office at 1-800 VA TECH4 for more information.

Fan Appreciation Day a Rousing Success

Fan Appreciation Day was held this past Saturday, August 15 on Worsham Field inside Lane Stadium. Hokie fans of all ages had the opportunity to meet and collect autographs from the 2015 Virginia Tech football team and coaches during the 90-minute event. Fans also had the opportunity to meet and take pictures with members of the Spirit Squads and the HokieBird. Thank you to all who attended and made Fan Appreciation Day a great success!

Buzz’s Bunch camp a special day for everyone involved

Calling the second Buzz’s Bunch summer camp at Virginia Tech a success would be an understatement. The event grew to more than 50 special needs campers. Making this day even more special was the presence of members of the Milwaukee Bunch, as four families were able to join the Blacksburg event. The Virginia Tech basketball staff provided the campers and their families with a fun day of skills development; work in the weight room and a tour of the locker room and basketball facilities, along with an autograph session with the Hokie players and a photo op with Coach Williams. Buzz’s Bunch campers will also be invited to a pair of basketball games during the regular season, where they will get to warm up with the team on the court prior to the selected games.

The Hokies were led by Murielle Teirnan, who netted a pair of goals and Laila Gray, who dished out two assists in the win. The match was the final warm-up for the Hokies in advance of their regular-season opener at Indiana on Friday night. Tech heads to Bloomington this week to compete in the Hoosier Classic over the weekend. In addition to the host Hoosiers, Tech will take on nationally ranked West Virginia on Sunday in Bloomington.
