GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech's Steve Borja was selected as the ACC Wrestler of the Week after defeating defending 184-pound Atlantic Coast Conference Frank Cornely of Duke, 5-3, in overtime. That win helped the Hokies to a 25-11 dual win over the Blue Devils, their second conference match victory as a member of the ACC.

Borja came from behind to pick up the win over 2004 ACC champ Cornely in overtime, as well as his 50th career win. Borja is currently 2-0 in the ACC, 24-7 overall, 11-3 in dual competition.

Cornely took a 2-0 lead into the second period, but Borja reversed him to tie it up. Cornely got an escape to take a 3-2 lead in to the third period. Borja kept pressing and a winded Cornely picked up two stall warnings - the last with just seconds left in the period - to force overtime. In the one-minute period, Borja caught Cornely on the edge and turned it into the winning takedown.

Borja is currently third on the team with a career-high 10 falls, is third on the team with 43 dual points scored and is tied for the team lead with a career-high four major decisions.

Under new coach Tom Brands, Tech has already won 10 dual meets this year. The Hokies won a combined 11 dual meets the previous three seasons.

Borja and the Hokies return to action next weekend, hosting the University of Maryland in an ACC match at Cassell Coliseum. Match time is 5 p.m. Maryland is 2-6 overall, 0-2 in the ACC.
