GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Virginia Tech wrestling team concluded competition at the 2007 Southern Scuffle Sunday with four athletes placing and the team finishing 12^th place with 61 points.

A pair of freshman led the way for the Hokies. Freshman Tommy Spellman placed fifth at 184 pounds, ending the tournament with an overtime win over fifth-seeded Eric Chine of Ken State to finish his weekend an impressive 7-2. Freshman Chris Diaz placed sixth at 141 pounds, going 5-3 for the tournament. Sophomore Eric Decker placed seventh at 174 pounds while junior Justin Staylor finished seventh at 125 pounds.

Tech (2-1) is now done with individual tournaments until the postseason and returns to the mat as a team on Jan. 11 and 12. The Hokies will compete in the annual Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum. The Hokies' first opponent, as well as the entire bracket, will be announced the week of the event.
