Diaz places eighth at NCAA Championships
Junior 141-pounder is Tech's lone All-American

OMAHA, Neb. - Virginia Tech junior Chris Diaz lost his lone match Saturday to place eighth in the 141-pound bracket at the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Diaz lost his first match on Thursday and then reeled off four straight wins to earn All-America honors.

Jarrod Garnett (125 pounds) and Jesse Dong (157 pounds) both placed in the top 12 of their weight class.

An action-packed match that lasted just a minute, Diaz got two takedowns and two back points to take a 6-1 lead. Thorn reversed him and ended up pinning him to end Diaz’s season.
