Garnett, Strube win titles at National Collegiate Open
Four Hokies place in top six at event

RICHMOND, Va. - Redshirting senior Jarrod Garnett took a title at 133 pounds and freshman Chade Strube won at 157 pounds to lead the way for the Virginia Tech wrestling team at the National Collegiate Open, held Sunday at the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond. Lex Ozias placed second at 149 pounds while Matt Stephens placed sixth at 157 pounds.

**EDIT** - The live results page and the brackets sent out at the end of the event listed Strube as the runner-up after falling 2-1 in the finals. That was an error as Strube was the winner by 2-1 decision. The event organizers have apolgized for the error and it has been corrected below.

The event is for competitors who will not be competing at their school’s conference championship, meaning it was filled with mostly those redshirting and backups.

The Tech team will compete at the ACC Championships next Saturday in Chapel Hill, N.C.
