Soccer Buzz honors Stinson and Moore
January 6, 2005 BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's soccer duo of Ashley Stinson and Erin Moore continue to earn postseason awards. Stinson, a native of Acworth, Ga., was named to the Soccer Buzz All-Mid Atlantic Region second team. She was one of only two freshmen on the first, second or third team. Stinson set four single-season school records during the 2004 campaign. She broke the records for goals (17), points (39), shots (75) and consecutive games with at least one point (8). Stinson finished first in the conference in goals per game, shots per game and points per game. She also ranked 13th nationally in goals per contest and 16th in points per contest. Stinson was also named to the Soccer Buzz All-Freshman team. Moore, a native of Poolesville, Md., earned a spot on the All-Freshman team alongside Stinson. She found tremendous success in giving her teammates an opportunity to score, totaling seven assists on the year. Her seven assists led Tech and placed her ninth in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Moore is tied for sixth on the top ten list for career assists and is only six assists shy of Emily Barnhart, who is first on the list with 13 assists. She also netted two goals on the season, including the game-winning goal against Longwood. The Hokies finished their inaugural ACC season with an 11-9 record and earned a spot in the NCAA Championships for the first time ever.
