Women's Soccer Announces 2000 Recruiting Class
Hokies sign six scholarship and two recruited walkons.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's soccer team announced today the signing of six scholarhip recruits and two recruited walkons. The athletes and their accomplishments are listed below.

1. Amy Rappaport - Columbia, Md. - Sweeper
Attended Howard High School and played under Coach Dave Vezzi. Also played for the Bethesda Scorpions under coach Rich Fabrizio. Was named all-county. Was a starter on the Maryland Olympic Development Team. Helped lead Maryland Olympic Development Team to the National Championship as a sweeper. Also played lacrosse.

2. Jessica Myers - Richmond, Va. - Forward/Midfielder
Attended Douglas Freeman High School under Coach Dave Finnegan. Was named MVP of the Central Va. Tournament in 1997. Was named to the all-star team in 1997 and '98. Was named to the Times Dispatch 1st Team All-Metro and 1st Team All-Region and All-District her junior year. Was on the state Olympic Development Team in 1996, '97, '98 and '99. Played on Club Team America under coach Alberto Starache.

3. Emily Barnhart - Powell, Ohio - Midfielder/Forward
Attended Bishop Watterson High School and played for coach Jackie Evans. Was named 2nd team all-league her freshman year and first team all-league her sophomore and junior year. Played on the Ohio Premier Club Team and the Ohio South State Olympic Development Team. 1997 and 1998-99 Most Valuable Player. Scored 23 goals this season to lead her high school team. Was selected 1st team all-league. Also played basketball.

4. Meghan Foy - Mechanicsville, Va. - Midfielder/Defender
Attended Atlee High School and played for Coach Jim Glass. Was 1st team all-district in 1998 AND 1999. Was honorable mention all-state in 1999 and was the 1999 Capitol District Player of the Year. Was 1st team all-regional in 1999. Was a member of the Olympic Development Team in 1996 and 1997.

5. Katie Wilson - Newport News, Va. - Defender
Attended Hampton Roads Academy High School. Played for Coach Mr. Franz. Was the 1999 Most Valuable Player. Was named to the 1996, 97 and '98 TCIS All-Conference Team. Played for the Beach FC Kicks club team under Coach Jerry Blaine. Was elected the 1998 and '99 most valuable player for the Kicks. Was selected five different times for the Olympic Development State Team.

6. Kathy Holdsworth - Virginia Beach, Va. - Forward/Halfback
Attended Kellam High School. Netted 33 goals as a freshman, scoring 73 goals in three years while tallying 44 assists. Was named all-district her freshman, sophomore and junior year. Was named to the first team all-region her freshman and junior years. Was named to the all-state team her freshman and junior year. Was named best offensive player her freshman year and received the coach's award her sophomore year. Was the team's most valuable player her junior year.

1. Kasey Warner - Glen Allen, Va. - Midfielder
Attended Hermitage High School and played for Coach Susan Good. Was named all-district, all-region all-academic and all-metro all four years. Was named the UKROPS tournament MVP last season. Also played for the Richmond Capitals club team. Was a member of the Olympic Development Team.

2. Tanya Netzel - Herndon, Va. - Defender
Attended Oakton High School and played for Coach Cathy Clark. Played on the California State Olympic Development Team. Was named first team all-district and second team all-region in Northern California. mber of the BRYC Braddock Road Elite Soccer Club.
