Hokies Announce Women's Soccer Schedule
Tech to host seven home contests

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's soccer team, under the direction of first-year head coach Kelly Cagle, has announced its 2003 fall schedule. The Hokies will play seven games in their new soccer stadium, including five against BIG EAST Conference opponents.

The Hokies open the 2003 season at George Mason on Saturday, Aug. 30 before making their debut in the new stadium on Tuesday, Sept. 2, as they host American at 7 p.m. Tech will play five of its seven home contests at night.

After the American game, Tech plays five of its next six games on the road before opening the home conference slate on Friday, Sept. 26 against St. John's. Two days later, Tech will host nationally-ranked Connecticut on Sept. 28 at noon in a women's/men's doubleheader. The men's team will host Rutgers at 2 p.m. following the UConn game.

The Hokies will complete their home schedule against Miami on Oct. 10, Georgetown on Oct. 16 and Rutgers, on Oct. 19. Tech's road schedule includes trips to conference opponents Villanova, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Providence and Boston College. The Hokies will also play at Miami (Oh.), Marshall, La Salle, Liberty, Radford and Old Dominion.

"We are very excited about what our 2003 fall schedule has to offer," Cagle said. "It is a great balance of conference and regional play. We believe that the 2003 schedule will allow us to compete against top teams, and ultimately help us raise the bar for women's soccer at Virginia Tech."
