Women's Soccer Shutout by West Virginia
Hokies Fall to 3-5 With Loss

BLACKSBURG, VA. - The Virginia Tech women's soccer team fell to West Virginia, 1-0, Wednesday.

Christie Abbott netted the lone goal of the match for the Mountaineers at the 18:56 mark off an assist from Vanessa Heppeler.

Tech totaled nine shots, three corner kicks and seven fouls. West Virginia tallied 16 shots, three corners and 10 fouls.

Tech goalkeeper Katie Hancock (Stockton, Md.) played all 90 minutes in goal with six saves and the lone goal allowed. West Virginia goalkeeper Melissa Haire spent 90 minutes in goal with four saves and zero goals allowed.

With the loss the Hokies fall to 3-5 on the year. Tech will return to action Friday when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to participate in theWake Forest/Nike Invitational hosted by Wake Forest.
